IT Certification Workbooks
Are You Prepared For ™ are workbooks to test your knowledge in preparation for IT certification exams. These are NOT textbooks, but designed to be used alongside your existing textbooks or other study resources. By completing an Are You Prepared For workbook you will reinforce your knowledge of exam concepts, terms, and objectives, while building a great study guide to be used for final preparation.
The process of handwriting the answers in this workbook increases the chances of your brain to retain the information.
By now you should have already studied for the exam. You have reviewed the exam format, exam time limit, and may even have your exam scheduled. If you are wondering what else you can do to be ready for the exam, from my experience, this is it. This workbook is designed to challenge you. Close your resources and answer this workbook only from memory if you can. All answers should be in short paragraph format.
If you are just starting to work on this certification, you can still use this workbook. Use this workbook alongside your existing textbooks or other study resources. Research the topics and by completing this book, you will have created a great study guide to use to prepare for the exam.
In either case, this workbook should become your final review before the exam. You will find some items repeated in this workbook, some acronyms will only be listed once and then spelled out elsewhere. This is intended to reinforce certain concepts that you may see on the exam. For example, you may see SMTP or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol on the exam, you need to be able to know the information in either format.
Most importantly and I cannot stress this enough: use your own words to define, explain, answer the questions in this workbook. It will make more sense to you than copy/paste of someone else's information. This is also why I am not providing any answers to this workbook. It is designed for you to test your knowledge.
FAQ's
Q: Why don't you have a textbook or videos?
A: My ultimate goal here is not to compete with the existing textbooks, videos, etc. of the authors we all know and love. Over my IT career I have used Professor Messer, Mike Meyers, and Jason Dion's resources to study. I'm trying to add something unique to the already good resources out there.
Q: Why don't you provide answers?
A: You should already have the resources to find the answer. There are many great authors with textbooks, videos, etc. to help you learn the material. If I give you the answers, I'm not helping you learn to use your resources. I'm not testing your knowledge if you memorize my answers. If one of my questions stumps you, then you know you need to go learn that concept.
Q: Why is there no "Peak Inside" or preview of the book on Amazon?
A: Amazon doesn't give me an option to set a preview due to them classifying my book as low content. Since the workbook has blank lines for you to answer the questions, Amazon classifies this similar to a journal or diary. You can use the "Look Inside the Book" links on this site.
